A Classic Seaside Attraction
Aberystwyth amazing seafront is great for visitors and locals both. If you visit, you’re very likely to find the prom in motion full of walkers, runners, rollerbladers, cyclists and people enjoying some good ol’ fish and chips admiring the view. The promenade is 2,000 metres long and will take you past all of Aberystwyth’s most prominent sights, landmarks – including the marina, harbour on the Southern end of the prom, and all of the busy main beach, with constitution hill standing high above at the northern end.
At the very end of the northern end, under the shadow of the ‘Consti’, the local nickname for Constitution-hill, this is where you will see locals ‘kicking the bar’, where they tap the railings at the extreme of the prom, this is a ritual which has been established for decades. The main prom features traditional seaside entertainment including a well-loved children’s paddling pool and a bandstand where you can treat yourself to some live music – be it local bands, performers and choirs.
This is a historic pier that was once very long, just the base section of it survives today but it is still home to a selection of establishments including a nightclub, sweetshop, brasserie and much more.
