Where to Stay in Aberystwyth

Aberystwyth has a solid range of accommodation for a town of its size, from seafront hotels to independent guest houses and self-catering apartments. The most important decision is location: seafront and promenade properties give sea views and walking access to the beaches; town-centre properties are closer to restaurants, the station and shops.
Hotels
Gwesty Cymru on Marine Terrace is the most characterful hotel on the seafront — a boutique property with a strong restaurant using local produce. It sits directly on the promenade overlooking Cardigan Bay. Booking is advisable well in advance for summer weekends and university open days.
The Hafod Hotel overlooks the seafront with family suites and a restaurant. The Pier Hotel is centrally located 20 metres from the seafront. Premier Inn Aberystwyth offers reliable chain-hotel consistency with seafront views of Cardigan Bay — useful if the independents are full.
Guest Houses & B&Bs
The Helmsman has well-regarded sea view rooms and a traditional seafront guesthouse character — one of the more consistently recommended B&Bs in the town. The Richmond Hotel is a traditional seafront guesthouse near the promenade with comfortable rooms and sea views. Celtic Bay Guest House and Cardigan Bay Guest House are both close to North Beach.

Self-Catering
Aber Accommodation offers boutique self-catering apartments on the seafront — a good option for longer stays, families or visitors who want kitchen facilities alongside a sea-view position. Self-catering generally offers better value for groups or stays of several nights.
Booking Tips
Aberystwyth fills quickly around university open days (October and spring), graduation week (July), and the Aberystwyth Comedy Festival (October). If your visit coincides with any of these, book as far in advance as possible. Outside peak periods, availability is generally good and last-minute deals exist. Seafront rooms command a premium over town-centre equivalents — decide early whether the sea view is worth it to you.
